Garnier 5 sec perfect blur - before and after - not retouched

Most lotions, creams, and serums designed to help you to repair some of the damage that has occurred on your skin already. The results are never instantly, but when you are lucky noticeable after long-term use. Sometimes you just want something that will make your skin look better immediately. If you have been looking for a cream that almost instantly make fine lines, wrinkles and large pores look less obvious (blurred) then Garnier 5 sec perfect blur might be just what you are looking for. This product delivers on it's promise, is very affordable (costs approximately €13.95 for 30 ml) and it's performance is similar to the high-end Sisley Instant Perfect, which retails for €40.00 - €50.00 (20 ml). It could also act as a dupe for Benefit Porefessional, or other primers.

The INCI list of 5 sec perfect blur is not impressive, rather uncomplicated short and doesn't contain anti aging or SPF. Women (and men) with allergy prone skin might prefer Garnier to Sisley's version, since that has a long list of ingredients, and therewith a higher risk causing skin reactions.

Garnier 5 sec perfect blur smoothing primer

It is a smoothing and perfecting primer with optical effect designed to be used after your moisturizer (and SPF). It takes 5 seconds to apply and improves the look of your skin almost immediately. Powder, cream and liquid foundation can be applied over it. Consider the product to be make-up, not skincare, since it has no anti aging properties or SPF. The "blurring or fading effect" lasts only as long as it is applied.

The formula diffuses light in all directions to reduce the appearance of wrinklesfine lines, open pores and uneven skin tone. Therewith it is optical fading most signs of aging. In addition, its velvety texture leaves skin feeling incredibly smooth, soft, matte though radiant and feels comfortable to wear all day long.

Pores, fine line, wrinkle, complexion correction, mature skin - Garnier 5 sec perfect blur
Garnier 5 sec perfect blur is a silicon gel emulsion. It goes on very smooth and will make corrections to most aging problems. It helps to fill in the fine lines and wrinkles and it also helps to reduce the signs of dilated pores. It has shine control properties too, so you will be able to go longer without having to re-apply your make-up. Because it leaves the skin matte, the minor imperfections are not as much accentuated compared to the more shiny skins, which tends to highlight the flaws.

The primary effect that most people see from this product is that their skin looks more hydrated and smoother. It encourages light diffusion on the skin so people won’t be able to see your imperfections.

Garnier 5 sec perfect blur a product for you?

This is the ideal product if you:

  • - are looking for an oil controlling product (with or without foundation)
  • - like your skin to look matte though radiant
  • - want your foundation to last longer (although you may find that you don't need make-up over it)
  • - like to get a more perfect foundation application, a near flawless complexion, and fewer visible wrinkles and imperfections
  • - like results almost immediately after every application
  • - desire refreshed and rejuvenated looking skin
  • - don't mind that after washing it off, the effect is gone
  • - expect subtle improvements, not a miracle

It is suitable for all skin-types & all skin-tones at all ages. Since the cream is pink, I've called Garnier to verify if the product is also meant for darker skin tones. Pink can make dark skin look grey and they assured me that it is suitable for dark skin too. It is recommendable to hydrate well before application.  Skip if you have a general dislike (or your skin) for silicone containing products, when you in general don't like to use (foundation) primers, expect lasting results and more than just subtle temporary improvement of your skin's appearance. For dark circles under the eyes you still need to use color corrector / concealer.

Lily Leading Instant Eye Lift - before & after

Apply on your face or locally on the T-zone, wrinkles and expression lines, areas of shadow with a light massaging motion using your fingertips. It is best used after your daily skincare (moisturizer / SPF) and before make-up application. It can be used fast and easy touch-up during the day.

Packaging Garnier 5 sec perfect blur

The product comes in a tube with a fine opening, that makes it easy to squeeze out the small amount you need for application. The information on the surrounding and sealed box holding the tube is sufficient.

Conclusion Garnier 5 sec perfect blur

Approximately 80% of all customers who bought Garnier 5 sec perfect blur would recommend this product (source Boots - link what do others say about Garnier 5 sec perfect blur).

Personally, I am satisfied with the overall performance regarding: price, packaging, easy application, the use in conjunction with foundation, how it makes my (mostly dry) skin look radiant and subtile smoothened. What I love (of primers in general) is that I don't need much foundation, which makes me look better and natural. The longevity is excellent. At the end of the day, my skin still looked fresh, smooth and radiant not too shiny with my make-up in place without touch up. The substance feels soft and a bit greasy because of the high amount of silicone. Little goes a long way. The product characteristics very comparable to other foundation primers (cheaper drugstore brands and high-end). Link to my post about topical wrinkle fillers. Conclusion: Garnier 5 sec perfect blur is a blessing for mature skin.

To minimize visible pores I use a trick well explained by make-up artist Wayne Goss on his YouTube Channel. Link to his tutorial: how to make pores disappear.

Where buy Garnier 5 sec perfect blur

The product is available at many drugstores and many online drugstores. Test it first on the back of your hand first to determine what it does for your skin: complexion, pores and fine lines. Prices may vary. I paid €13.95 for 30 ml at the drugstore.

Ingredient list Garnier 5 sec perfect blur

As mentioned above, this list simple and not very impressive:

Dimethicone, Dimethicone crosspolymer, Silica (nano) / Silica Isododecane, Aluminium Hydroxide, CI77491 / Iron Oxydes, CI77891/ Titanium Dioxide, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate.

Dimethicon (a silicon oil a.k.a. PDMS) is first mentioned on the list and therewith the most dominating ingredient. It puts a film over the skin and acts as a skin protectant and emollient, appearing in many moisturizing lotions and skin creams, as well as in some makeup products. Even diaper rash creams for babies often add this chemical to sooth irritated skin. Most people with dry skin benefit from dimethicon. Some users of creams containing dimethicone find that the product can worsen dryness. Usually this is due to an allergic reaction. Other skin reactions like break-outs are reported. Silicones do not clog pores. An environmental concern is that dimethicon is not biodegradable.

The brand Garnier belongs to l'Oreal and it is no wonder that the ingredient list is very similar to l'Oreal Revitalift Magic B.L.U.R. (also marketed as Miracle B.L.U.R.).

Hope this is helpful for you.
